Pokémon Go has been one of this year’s biggest crazes. People who aren’t even Pokémon fans had a go at the app which allows you to wander around where you live to catch Pokémon characters. People continue to play Pokémon Go as there are always new things that are being added to the app.
Players can capture Pokémon characters to in their quest to become the best Pokémon trainer. Pokémon characters can pop up all over the world however where there are more people and buildings there tends to be more Pokémon characters. Since the app requires you to do a lot of walking we have done a fair few kilometers. The app launched in July and we had already done 1, 597, 696 kilometers by the end of it. By September 7th 2016 we had walked 4.6 billion kilometers by walking around catching characters.
By December 7th 2016 we have walked 8.7 billion kilometers and caught 88 billion Pokémons. It would take a commercial jetliner more than 1,000 years to cover the same distance. Whether the trend will die down in 2017 or continue to remain popular I am unsure. It depends on how the app is developed and what new features are incorporated into it. If there are new features that will keep users interested then I am sure that the craze will continue to carry on.
However, there is a possibility that it could just be a 2016 craze and that less and less people use it in 2017. I wonder what new crazes will pop up in 2017 we will just have to wait and see. One other of the other crazes of 2016 is the mannequin challenge which is where you have to stay still while someone goes around and films you. There have been thousands of mannequin challenges put up online some of which are hilarious. You can really tell a story through a mannequin challenge.
